Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo and Illumination shared the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles
Similar to the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
