Immigration officers have been deployed to the Democratic-run city as part of President Donald Trump's growing operation on illegal immigration, according to official statements.

The initiative, dubbed "Charlotte's Web Operation", was revealed on recently, with representatives stating that "illegal immigrants with criminal records" would be primary subjects in the city.

"We are surging immigration officers to the city to protect American citizens and eliminate security risks," a spokesperson commented.

Municipal leaders, including Charlotte's mayor, issued a unified declaration condemning the initiative, saying it was causing "unnecessary fear and uncertainty" in the community.

Enforcement Measures

Military-style vehicles and special operations teams could be participating in the Charlotte area enforcement action, according to confidential reports.

Multiple congregants working on grounds at a eastern Charlotte church escaped to nearby forest when authorities descended, with a person being taken into custody, according to accounts.

"We assumed the religious facility was protected and nothing [was] gonna happen," a teenage observer commented.

National Framework

Since the administration's continuation, government agencies have been dispatched to several locations including major metropolitan areas to deliver on the pledge of "the biggest immigration enforcement effort" in American history.

The Department of Homeland Security said they are implementing the campaign because the state has not respected the approximately 1,400 ICE detainees, meaning they had been freed due to "sanctuary policies".

The city is not a immigration haven - municipalities that have regulations in place to limit the assistance given to national immigration agencies - but it is a "officially recognized inclusive community". This is a formal designation for urban centers that are committed to immigrant integration.

Earlier in the week, US Representative and Democrat, Alma Adams said she was made aware of the campaign and was "deeply worried" about immigration enforcement personnel coming to North Carolina.

The subsequent location on Trump's list is set to be New Orleans, according to information, and that as many as 200 agents could be deployed to the area.

Campaigns in other municipalities like Chicago and Los Angeles have faced criticism over worries about disproportionate measures.
